PED's and G-O-L-F

Doug Barron, come on down! You are officially the first professional golfer to be suspended for violating the PGA Tour's performance-enhancing drug policy. Like most things, this was inevitable, and even if it seems like the guy was using something to either a) improve his ailing health, or b) recover from an injury, he nonetheless broke a rule and now he's booted out for a year. Considering how bored everyone is concerning PED's these days, this really isn't that big of a deal in the larger scheme of things. ESPN's Jason Sobel has even twisted it around to find the silver lining here: that at least this is proof the PGA Tour is keeping tabs on this kind of thing. At least the conspiracy theorists can stop claiming that these things are being swept under the rug.

So yeah, I don't think this taints or diminishes golf in any way. It just kind of happened and ok, now we all know. What do you think?

"I don't believe it," Rod Pampling said. "Doug Barron? Look at the man. Tell him to take his shirt off and ask anyone, 'Do you believe he's on performance-enhancing drugs?"

I think he is out to prove himself of that certainty

A teammate of mine in College was also a state caliber, highly sought basket ball recruit for D1 schools. One day we were out and about in his hometown and he ran into a bunch of old faces. One of them said "Hey ............ how have you been? How's your court game going?" He then looked at me and said ".......... was one of the greatest basketball players this state had ever seen. Where are you playing?"

My friend let him know he was not playing at any college (at least was not playing basketball) and the guy was just about beside himself. He asked what happened and was shocked that he was not leading a team into the big dance.

My friend said........I will never forget this

"I had a choice. Run wind sprints for the next 5 years or turn to my buddy and say "can you hold my beer, I have to hit this 6 iron." Do you think I made the wrong decision?"

We have come an awful long way from "hold my beer" to "pass me the HGH"

Sad day for our sport

New revelations as Barron is now filing a lawsuit in an attempt to lift his ban. For whatever reason, perhaps the above pic had something to do with it, or all the quotes from his fellow players, this always kind of felt like a misunderstanding/misinterpretation of the PGA's complicated policy. Barron claims he was simply taking beta blockers and testosterone, both prescribed by a doctor, because he has a heart condition and the testosterone levels "of an 80 year old man." I guess we'll have to wait and see what gets decided, but at this point it doesn't look like Barron was doing anything malicious or trying to cheat his way to better performance.
