Adventures in Headcovers

Are Headcovers equipment? Well, they cover equipment at the very least, so we'll go for it. What are yous guyses opinions on headcovers? I'm a non factory headcover guy myself. I like the idea of representing your brand loyalties, but I'm more inclined towards my old-school UW and Seahawks cotton headcovers, both for style and security reasons. There's no reason to advertise your brand spankin' new R9 purchase to all the five handed discount shoppers out there, I've always reasoned. How about you all? Have any super cool headcovers? Rare or otherwise? Perhaps a cool animal?

I'm completely with you Kyle.

Every time I get a new driver, fairway wood, hybrid, or putter I tell the salesman to keep the head cover. The last thing I want is to let some creeping marauder know that I just got a new i15 driver and have him help himself to my new toy.

I keep a torn up old Seahawks headcover on my driver and a Sahalee generic soft cover on my fairway wood. I put my Nickent hybrid cover on my Sonartec hybrid (nobody has to know I have a club that is not replaceable and Nickent is not exactly "Honda" in the thief underworld.

My putter is a fun one though........I have a "Scotty Cameron" cover right now, but my best head cover EVER was an old red sock that I used to put on my putter. It was one of those long soccer socks that you would wear as a kid that covered shin pads. It was long enough that if you pulled it tight it would cover the entire putter, shaft and all.

It would rip about once every 2 months from use and it would fray about every day so I was constantly repairing it. When it came time to replace it I found anything loud and obnoxious to put on there. I tried striped, white with four leaf clovers, giraffe print (all courtesy of my girlfriend at the time's sock drawer) but none worked as well as that old red soccer sock.

You know what..........I'm ditching that Cameron cover tonight and rooting through my wife's sock drawer!
