
Cue the music.
Strange things were happening at the conclusion of yesterday’s tour championship. Tiger Woods, number one in the world, finished second place for the tournament, first place in Fed-Ex cup standings, and got a big trophy. Phil Mickelson finished first for the tournament, reclaimed his number two world golf ranking, and ended his season second in Fed-Ex cup points. He was awarded a somewhat less substantial trophy. If it sounds confusing it’s because it is. And we’re not the only ones left scratching our heads.

So I have been out of the loop blogging lately and I am so sorry for that. I have been occupied with my other vice and addiction. Pearl Jam music. For those that do not know, I am a Pearl Jam junkie. I have been for about 17 years or so.
I have grown up with Pearl Jam. Some of my angst filled high school years had tracks from “Ten” as the soundtrack. College saw changes in my life and there were Eddie, Mike, Jeff and Stone to console and cajole.
I have seen them more times than I can count live. Now, at age 34, a new album and a 2 show stretch right here at home in Seattle.

Golf is a strange game. Like no other sport, up can be down and black can be white. A good shot can end up awful while some of the worst shots have yielded the best results. Only in golf can you get a hole in one where the ball never leaves the ground. Only in golf can you get a ball out of bounds with a perfect shot down the middle. Only in golf.
It is the bizarre nature of this sport that perplexes golfers near and far.
One of these bizarre and confounding ideasĀ is the “I need a stiffer shaft because I slice the ball” myth….

Golf is my favorite sport. Golf is also the way I provide for my family. Golf is one of my greatest passions and one of my most severe addictions. I have experienced addiction before and I can tell you that golf dwarfs a number of them in severity and expense ha ha.
