An idea I wish I had thought up?

The light bulb or the telephone would have been a good one, but I was too late being born…in fact, my Parents were too late being born too. I would have liked to have been the Microsoft guys. I would not have minded being on the inside of the Stop sign either.

I also wish I would have thought up the personalized golf ball.

I do not wish this for riches or for fame, but for how darn cool this concept is. In a world of customizable golf clubs, shafts, lie angles, putter lofts, and movable weights, the personalized golf ball is the Grand Daddy of custom options in this game.

Personalized golf balls allow you to choose your favorite golf ball and put your name or company logo on it. There are a couple of rules to this feature, though. You are not allowed to use any profanity or any hint of subject matter that might jeopardize the brand of the golf ball. Figure that you are going to lose the ball at some stage. Titleist does not want someone else finding a golf ball that says “Joe licks his dirty balls” or something off color like that.

Another parameter is that your personalization must fit in 3 lines only and not exceed 51 characters of text. Unfortunately, spaces count as one character of text. You can choose from a variety of ink color for an added touch, but you can not go above the 51 character rule. Want your Bridgestone E7+ balls to have the Preamble to the Constitution on it? Probably better paraphrase that.

Thinking that your company wants to give away a sleeve of Callaway HX Hot Plus balls to your employees? Well keep in mind that logos are a little different. With a logo, typically, you must order multiple dozens. You must also have a logo on file with the manufacturer. I know what you are saying…”Who has a logo on file?” Well the answer is simple. Nobody. So you must submit a Jpeg file of the logo you wish to put on the ball and pay a set up fee for the first time ordering logo golf balls.

Then there is the ultimate in custom golf balls. The Taylor Made TP custom number golf balls. Here is a cool concept. You can choose your own number for your golf ball. Wore #54 on college on the football team? You can play that number as your golf ball number. Love Wayne Gretzky so much your wife thinks that there might be issues? #99 can be front and center on your golf ball. A minimum of 3 dozen need to be purchased for this feature and you can choose from #00 up to #99 and everything in between.
