Personalized golf balls

April 27th, 2009

golf-photos-020An idea I wish I had thought up?

The light bulb or the telephone would have been a good one, but I was too late being born…in fact, my Parents were too late being born too. I would have liked to have been the Microsoft guys. I would not have minded being on the inside of the Stop sign either.

I also wish I would have thought up the personalized golf ball. Read more…

Lob Wedge?

April 25th, 2009

I started playing golf at a very young age. Dad took me to the driving range and I took to the game fairly quickly, or so I am told. Through High School and College years I golfed. I played numerous tournaments after my College career was completed.

Through that time, I tried TONS of equipment. One thing I never tried, is in my bag now….

Golf Equipment Stimulus Package

April 22nd, 2009

golf-photos-072Finally, the golf club manufacturers are starting to get it. Finally the common man is being catered to, sort of, by the big dogs on the golf equipment block…..

I have waited for this for YEARS!

Vegas Trip Part III

April 20th, 2009

Monday came about as slow as any day could. There was even a few moments Sunday night where it looked like we toms-vegas-013might not be able to get out and play. Those were quickly squashed and it was set, Boulder Creek at high noon! I was on cloud nine.

We arrived a bit early and set foot on the grounds. I was right where I needed to be. My mind immediately raced to the par 5 5th. In a few short hours I would be on the tee, ready to vanquish some demons.

This is golf. Not a rock concert.

April 17th, 2009

For my inaugural post, I thought I’d bring to attention the sleek stylings of the new Adam’s Idea Pro Black Irons. Give those beauties a quick once over and tell me you don’t want them in your bag, immediately. The shafts are Black Steel for crying out loud. As someone who is more aesthetically inclined towards the darker shade, these sticks have me wishing I was good enough to hit them. An investigation of Adam’s Product Page reveals to me that they’re “designed for the skilled player,” so, alas, count this par celebrator out. Unfortunately, the red line on the accompanying Forgiveness Chart doesn’t quite reach far enough for me to even dream about solid contact. However, these Hi Res Images have me thinking that with enough practice, I might be able to play my way up. For me, these clubs represent reason number four-thousand-and-eighty-seven why I should make myself a better golfer, and for you Skilled Players out there who can utilize the Pro Black’s “Tour Quality” features; if they play half as a well as they look, then I’m jealous twice over.

Vegas Trip Part II

April 17th, 2009

After a toms-vegas-008great time with some great friends at Primm, we headed back to town for a rest and a meal. We had a plate full of BBQ and I retired to the hotel for some much needed rest. I forgot how tough 36 holes can be on a short fat kid. For years 36 holes was just another day of qualifying. I even used to follow the 36 up with a practice session if I didn’t fare very well through the day.

As I longed for sleep, I almost felt some fear come over me…I had another round tomorrow to play!

Vegas Trip Part 1

April 15th, 2009

The plane took off in a driving rain storm. At 39 degrees I looked completely out of place in my shorts on that plane. We landed 2 1/2 hours later and I was among the majority in my shorts. We got our baggage and we were on our way. We got the hotel, thanks Brandon for the pick up, and I was rocking. I had about 5 hours to rest before I had to wake up and hitch another friend’s ride to Primm.toms-vegas-009

I was in Vegas……and golf was the biggest gamble there was, apparently.

Sunday At The Masters…

April 13th, 2009

Okay, I was not there in person, but I am pretty much a regular at the April spectacle that is The Masters. This Sunday was no exception as Tony, Jeanne, Amy, and myself were positioned, squarely, on my couches with a nice plate of Buffalo style hot wings and a cool Corona placed in front of us.

Typically I want a select few players to win the grandest of all majors, in my opinion, of course. This was no toms-vegas-011exception…. Read more…

The Superbowl In April??

April 10th, 2009

April is my favorite time of year. I am a huge football fan and so fall holds a special place in my heart as a new season dawns and the possibility of greatness hangs in the air. But THIS is the best time of year for a guy like me, and probably like you too.

I know I promised a blow by blow account of my trip to Vegas and that is coming. I think that it would be presumptuous and almost sacrilegious to NOT talk about the Superbowl happening RIGHT NOW!!
