My Las Vegas Golf Trip
Having lived in Vegas I had the opportunity to play almost all of the courses in the region and, so, as I prepare for a trip down there in the early part of April, for a wedding, I am excited! Though the weekend will be taken up with wedding stuff and I am sure that the fiance will have a couple of “touristy” things for us to do, I am packing my sticks and have called all the usual suspects for a couple rounds.
Did I mention that I am excited??!!
Any chance to get out of the cold (I still have snow on my back porch) and the wet is welcomed this time of year. I have played as much as I can, but I am fairly sick of cleaning my ball every time I strike it and digging it out of its own impact mark off the tee. I am ready to get down to some firm conditions so my weak tee shot gets out there a bit more ha ha.
This trip all started with the love of my life reminding me that we have a friend getting married in the first week of April. As she reminded me of this fact, my first thought was of Boulder Creek!!! Okay, that is not true, my first thought was of getting to see my buddies. Then my thoughts trailed off to being on the 5th tee at Boulder Creek, out away from the world, with good friends, on my way to blasting a drive into the junk on the right.
You see, that 5th hole is a reachable par 5 with junk right and pretty much an unplayable lie waiting short and left of the green. I tend to spray my tee shot there and find the junk on the right often, so I am already playing that hole in
my mind.
With those thoughts running, I called Nick, Drue and Kareem and we are in the process of putting together a great tour of all my favorites. We have nothing concrete yet, but we are thinking Primm (hopefully Lakes, as Nick has never played there) on the 2nd. Then off to Revere on the 3rd. I am hoping that we can play the Lexington, but either course will work for me. Then on Monday the 6th we are thinking Boulder Creek.
I am so stoked to get out in some warmer weather and play a bit. I have my “desert conditions” golf balls all ready to go and I have started to practice with my lower bounce Nike wedges. I think I am pretty well ready to go I think. Now if I can just navigate that 5th hole….
