It Didn’t Take Long…

March 30th, 2009

toms-005As I sat there on Sunday, watching the NCAA basketball, I decided I would flip over to the golf. I was not expecting much. After all, Sean O’Hair was 5 shots up starting the day and, outside of a couple rare instances, 5 shot leads are fairly certain on hte PGA Tour.

The best golfers in the world do not relinquish 5 shot leads very often. This time, the “best golfers in the world” were being chased by THE best golfer in the world!

My Las Vegas Golf Trip

March 27th, 2009

toms-002Having lived in Vegas I had the opportunity to play almost all of the courses in the region and, so, as I prepare for a trip down there in the early part of April, for a wedding, I am excited! Though the weekend will be taken up with wedding stuff and I am sure that the fiance will have a couple of “touristy” things for us to do, I am packing my sticks and have called all the usual suspects for a couple rounds.

Did I mention that I am excited??!!

Adams Speedline Driver (review)

March 23rd, 2009

golf-photos-016It snowed here in Seattle the last few days. There are two things I dread when it comes to golfing, snow and punched greens. The difference is that, in the latter, YOU CAN STILL PLAY. With snow, there is no shot. No hand warmers or waterproof shoes will make a difference when there is snow on the ground.

It was these conditions that I met 2 weeks ago when I was set to demo a new driver. I was so excited and I felt handcuffed. The driver sat in my living room, illuminated, as if it were beckoning me to a far away place with sunshine and firm fairways.

The driver was the new Adams Speedline, and the description of the weather I was facing was ANYTHING but golf conditions.

March 13th, 2009

golf-photos-032Golf balls have changed SEVERELY over the years. I sometimes find myself wishing for the days of yesteryear when it comes to golf balls. Some shots were so much easier to execute with a golf ball from years gone by. I got to thinking…”What golf balls have I absolutely LOVED over my golf career.

There are a few…

The Golf Economy; A Stimulus Package

March 6th, 2009

Pebble Beach just reduced its price. Bandon Dunes has gone “affordable.” The Falls in Las Vegas just closed its doors. And I am sure there are other stories…

The fact is that the economic situation has effected all of us, and golf is starting to feel the effects too.

The 5 Best Looking Clubs Of ALL TIME pt. 2

March 2nd, 2009

Driver isn’t the only club in the bag and so it shouldn’t be the only one to win an award right? Years ago, Lee Trevino played a “mixed” bag of clubs. His #5 iron might have been a Top Flite while his #9 might have been a Hogan Apex blade. His contention was that he would play the best looking clubs in every piece of his set. Matching was not his style ha ha.

I have one of those on here, but most of this list will be best looking irons. And the nominees and winners are…
